The Importance of SEO

Search engine optimization is a very important factor in helping businesses to acquire large volumes of customers as compared to other customer acquisition techniques (such as traditional advertising or online advertising, PCP, social media marketing and others) and is cost-efficient. Before the evolution of the Internet, people learned about products or services through commercials on TV, billboards, newspapers, hearing about the product on a radio or searching the yellow pages. The Internet changed the way businesses and consumers interact with each other.  The way in which consumers find products and make purchases and the way businesses operate and acquire their customers have been revolutionized.  The Internet enables people to find a product that they desire by simply searching for it at their convenience. People can buy products via the Internet, read reviews about those products online and contact the customer service department, when necessary, to solve problems they may have with the brand. People have come to trust Internet reviews that they find about certain products or services more than they trust advertising commercials. One study suggests that 81% of shoppers conduct online research before making a purchase (Retailing Today, 2014). It is very important to have a website that is optimized for search engines and that can be found organically on the first page of search engine result pages when people are looking for a related product or service. According to Search Engine Land, 70-80% of users ignore the paid ads and focus more on organic results.
